It has been three weeks since I decided to take my Substack more seriously and start a paid subscription tier. Since then, I have thought a lot about my offering, the time I want to commit, and the pricing.
When I started the paid newsletter, I wanted to test the water with an accessible price because I wasn't sure how much time I wanted to dedicate between here and Seeking Alpha. Now, I have noticed how motivating it is to me, and I want to switch 90% of my writing from Seeking Alpha to Substack. I don’t have the feeling anymore to write for my editors, but rather for my audience. This increases my motivation and, hence, my output and quality. It also allows me to focus on the companies I want to write about and not the ones that are popular.
I will increase my prices for new subscriptions; old plans will continue as they are until they are canceled, to allow me to put all my focus here. Monthly will go from $7 to $11, and the annual subscription will go from $60 to $99 on Sunday. Here is how the offering will expand with more valuable content, compared to my initial plan(old plan in italics, new plan in bold).
The free plan will continue to receive monthly portfolio updates and occasional investing topics like this post about my Owner Earnings metric.
The paid plan will continue to get coverage of (mostly) European Small-/ Mid Caps from my portfolio and investable universe.
All content is written with a focus on durable business models and moats, owner earnings and long-term thinking from the perspective of a young, continual learner on his journey.
Additionally, I’ll cover all my other (larger and international) portfolio companies and investable universe companies. I’ll post deep dives on the business model, fundamentals and valuation of all my portfolio companies over the coming months.
You’ll receive updates on my buys and sells on the same/next day like this post (via post or in the chat).
You’ll be able to ask questions in the Substack Chat feature.
I won’t put a fixed schedule, but I will commit to at least one paid post a week on average (it will most likely be more).
I believe that it is important to not sell yourself undervalued, and I want to offer something for the subscription. I’ve received several messages telling me that I am pricing the service too cheaply and that was with the narrower scope. I hope to be able to scale this newsletter and create a lot of valuable content for you all, no matter if you’re a paid or free subscriber.
Remember that the new pricing will come online on the 11th of February; you can lock in the current prices until then.
Best success!
Stoked you're going fully into substack my friend!!
